• June 11 (Cancellation), Alf Carter Show. The Kinsmen have announced that the Alf Carter show scheduled for June 11 had to be cancelled due to a scheduling conflict and slow ticket sales. Anybody who bought tickets can return them to the point of purchase for a refund. “It is hoped that the Kinsmen can reschedule the show for the fall,” the notice states, and thanks everyone for their support.

• June 12, The Hungarian Cello, Brian Yoon, noon at St. Michale’s Church in Chemainus. Described by the CBC as “Canada’s next cello superstar,” Victoria principal cellist Brian Yoon is well positioned to deliver an unforgettable performance. His program will include a Bach solo suite, several short works with a Hungarian flavour, and, as its cornerstone, the virtuoso masterpiece, Sonata for Cello by Hungarian composer Zoltán Kodály. • June 18, Chemainus Summer Fest, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Enjoy a pancake breakfast at 8 a.m., a parade at 11 a.m., and kid’s activities from 11:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be musical entertainment all day. • June 26, Dreamtime Sound Journey, 7 p.m., Seaside Yoga Studio 9949 Cedar Street, Chemainus. This event will weave together sacred sound to soothe, relax and transform. Native flute and drum, voice, Tibetan singing bowls, and various other harmonic instruments will take you on a healing journey with sound healers Ed Peekekoot, Alison Etter, Jill Shatford and Jonathan Beals.
