The Ladysmith RCMP are cautioning residents of a mail fraud scam that is circulating.
Mail has been received which originates from the Netherlands or from Australia and requests small amounts of money be sent to claim a larger prize, according to a news release from the police.
RCMP say that sums as small as $25 are requested, which may entice the general public to comply, and the quality of the printed material received in the mail is considered high.
The Ladysmith RCMP remind the public that it is unusual to have to pay a fee to obtain a prize and that no money, credit card information or personal information should be supplied.
