A pair of not-to-miss fundraisers for Tour de Rock are being held in the coming days in Ladysmith.

The first is a unique Zumba workout and music experience on Aug. 12 at the Transfer Beach Amphitheatre.

The event takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in support of Tour rider and Nanaimo RCMP Cst. Samantha Caram.

La Mexicane food truck will be on site for snacks after working up an appetite.

The business is run by an enthusiastic young couple who have a passion for food and a particular joy of cooking and sharing their love of Mexican cuisine.

They have learned a traditional Mexican way for cooking pork that takes, not hours, but days and leads to an unique flavour and tenderness.

Ale is from Mexico and grew up cooking and enjoying wonderful food. She has experience working in commercial kitchens and is ready to share her passion for good food with Ladysmith.

All ages are welcome and participation is by donation.

The second event is an outdoor family movie being put on by Ladysmith town council (as volunteers) on Aug. 15 in support of Ladysmith Tour de Rock rider Lindy Skutnik.

It is being held at the Resources Centre at Second Avenue and High Street. Members of council and the local Tour de Rock committee will be barbecuing hot dogs and making popcorn.

The event is free but donations will be accepted.

The Ladysmith Fire Rescue crew will also be there with all their equipment so children can see it all and ask questions.

Information regarding smoke detectors and Fire Smarting Homes will also be available for the parents.

Event starts at 6 p.m. with the movie at dusk.
