Carl Wandler

September 20, 1932 - October 10, 2017

Carl passed away peacefully at home in Ladysmith on October 10th, 2017.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 60 years, Floradena (nee Halter); sisters Delores, Marie & Hilda, his children Wendi (Ambrose Micklich), Calvin (Linya), & Elayne (Anthony Boone); and his three grandsons, in whom he found great joy: Adam Micklich and Samuel & Jackson Boone.

He was predeceased by his mother Elisabeth (nee Halter) and father Frank, his brothers Johnny and Frank, and his sisters Anne, Rose, and Florence.

He was born and grew up on a farm in northwest Saskatchewan.  After a stint driving transport trucks, he began working in the pipeline industry, first in the field and later as Chief Estimator.

He married in 1957 and settled in St. Albert, Alberta to raise a family.  An avid golfer with a keen competitive spirit, after moving to Vancouver Island in 2004, he had been a staple at Cottonwood Golf Course.  He was also involved in the Knights of Columbus and St. Mary's parish, taking on various volunteer roles.

A kind and gentle man, he touched many people with his warm heart and wise soul.  He had a wonderful sense of humor, a love of nature, and a song always on his lips.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary's Parish in Ladysmith, BC on Thursday, October 19th at 1pm, followed by refreshments in the church hall.

The family would like to give special thanks to the Ladysmith Family Clinic and the Cardiac Department at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria for their skill and empathetic care over the years.
