EDWARD JOHN YORI
October 20 1929-April 17 2016
Our beloved Uncle Eddie passed away peacefully Sunday, April 17th, 2016, while in Nanaimo Regional Hospital, from complications of a heart attack and stroke.
Eddie was a kind and gentle man, he was born in Extension, B.C. and lived his entire life in the community of Ladysmith. He spent his working career with TimberWest and retired after 50 years of service.
Eddie remained a bachelor his entire life, but had a loving relationship for 25 years with Edna Houston. Eddie lived a simple life, enjoying activities such as hunting, fishing, curling and spending holidays at the cabin with his childhood friends. He also enjoyed wine making, gardening and a good game of crib. He was awarded one of Ladysmith’s greenest citizens.
Eddie was predeceased by his Mother: Louisa Yori, Father: Enrico Yori, Brother Harry Yori and nephews Terry Yori and James Higgs. Left to miss this humble and loving man are his Sister Reta Higgs and nieces and nephews Rose-Marie Britton (Glen), Lynda Boris (Jim), Judy Eldred (Kerry), Bill Higgs (Frid Eva), Louise Dewar(Jamie), and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to Laura Taylor (Yori) for the caring visits (and treats!) We will miss Eddie and his stories, and the way he took a special interest in all our lives.
Uncle Eddie, we will miss seeing you standing in our kitchen stirring the gravy, and waiting for the impending - “did you make this from scratch?”
Good-bye from of us all, until we meet again.
There will be no service, but a private
family gathering at a later date.
