Kellogg, Irene J. (Babe)

Born September 13, 1928 in Cranbook, BC passed away peacefully at the Lodge on 4th, Friday morning July 14, 2017.

Babe was predeceased by her husband of 64 years William (Bill) in 2010 and is survived by her 3 children, Paul (Carol) Salmo, Terry (Bonnie) Victoria and Shari (Ray) Irving, Ladysmith. Grandchildren Terra, Evan, Holly, Melanie, Kristopher and Brianne, great grandchildren Logan and Emilia. Brother Don (Gerri) Burrows, Calgary, Sisters Rae (Jake) Jacobson, Ladysmith and Jackie (Stan) Piper, Saltair.

Babe grew up in the Nelson/Cranbrook area where she met a handsome young soldier at a dance named Bill Kellogg. They were married after the war in 1946, settled in Ladysmith on a lovely piece of land in the Diamond overlooking Rocky Creek. They lived there for 57 years before poor health forced them to downsize to a townhouse in Ladysmith and eventually both to the Lodge on 4th.

Babe was a long time teacher’s aide, starting her career in 1972 at the Diamond School. Upon its closing she moved to Davis Rd School and onto North Oyster School before retiring in 1991.

She was a compassionate, caring woman who took everyone’s problems to heart and will always be remembered for her wonderful smile and the love of the color pink.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Lodge on 4th for their loving care of Mom for the last 8 years. No Service by request.
