Marlene Winifred Smith
January 13, 1936 - January 10,2017
Marlene passed away peacefully with family by her side after coping with a chronic illness for many years. Marlene was born in Vancouver on Jan 13 1936. From an early age, she lived her life with faith as of one Jehovah’s Witnesses, being baptized in 1947. She has touched the hearts of many and will be sorely missed by all who knew her. She found joy in the good times with her friends and huge extended family.
Marlene was predeceased by her husband of 35 years, John Sr, her son John Edward, her parents Ken and Helen Hayhurst,and her brothers David and Gary. She is survived by her 3 remaining children, Ken, Brad, and Rebecca as well as her sister Beverly, grandchildren Jonathan, Ethan, Madison, Jessica, Haydn, Dakota, Tyler, Bethany, Lindsy and great grandchildren Aislin and Jason.
We wish to thank the friends at our local congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses for their support and love. Also the concerned members of the community and the extraordinary nurses and staff at NRGH palliative care unit.
Her memorial service will be held at the Cassidy Kingdom Hall 1724 Vowels rd. Jan 28/17 at 2 pm with a Tea held afterwards.
