UDAHL, Norman Edwin

Norm was born on Oct.4/59 and passed away on May 18, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Prince George and spent his youth living in Pentiction, Quesnel, Clinton and Ladysmith. At his passing, he had been employed by the Municipality of the District of North Cowichan and the previous years with the Department of Highways.

His loving wife of 28 years, Kathy and one son, Sam, survives him.

He is also survived by his parents, Bob and Chris Udahl, sister Sandra and husband Greg Heyes all of Ladysmith, brother Robbie and Myrna.

His is also survived by his mother-in-law, LaVore Waddle of Claresholm, Alberta, brother-in-law David and his wife Darlene of Taber Alberta, sister-in-laws Donna and her husband Jack Cross of Chemainus, BC, Carol and Ian of San Diego, CA, Shirley and Mike Harrington of Burnaby BC and numerous nieces and nephews. Numerous good friends and co-workers who helped him thru his journey also survive him. Thank you for taking the time to visit Norm as he enjoyed the visits very much even if it didn’t appear so.

Norm was known for his quick wit, dry sense of humor and observations of the obvious. He loved practical jokes and was probably the master of the perfect joke. He was passionate and supportive of Sam’s taekwondo career and tournaments and his accomplishments under the guidance of Master Teh, Norm never missed one of Sam’s tournaments. He was extremely proud of the young man Sam has become during his taekwondo career and since joining the Military Armed reserves.

Norm had a gentle way with animals, especially his dog Jessie and by his other good dog friends Scooter, Jeffrey and Bear. Cats were drawn to him too.

Norm was an all around good person, who helped whenever asked and helped even when he wasn’t asked. He liked to watch hockey and tennis and enjoyed having a good laugh or hear a good joke.

A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at the Ladysmith Eagles Hall, 7 pm. Please bring you memories of Norm and help us celebrate this remarkable man with the laughter that he would have enjoyed. No flowers by request, please make a donation to a charity of your choice. Have a beer and remember your good times with Norm.
