Pamela Fairchild, nee Nancy Pamela Evans, died November 3, 2016, in Pointe Claire, Quebec, at the age of 83. She left this life as she had lived: with kindness, grace, and strength.

Pam was born October 28, 1933, in Lincolnshire, England, to her Welsh parents. She grew up in Wales and became an R.N. and midwife and was a natural caregiver. She was compassionate, wise, and funny.

Pam possessed a great sense of adventure and an abundance of joy. In 1958, she emigrated to Canada, where she started her life in Vancouver, B.C. She met her late husband, John Winter Fairchild, on Gabriola Island. Pam was welcomed into the Fairchild family and she brought magic and sparkle into their lives. She built lasting friendships with them all.

Pam and John spent many happy years in Ladysmith, B.C. She was a devoted wife to John and cared for him in the last years of his life with great fortitude and grace. Pam found such happiness in the Ladysmith art community and was embraced by them. She leaves behind many, many dear friends who enriched her life as she enriched theirs.

Pam rarely looked back; she was fearless and pragmatic. She moved to Pointe Claire, Quebec, in 2015, and approached her new snowy life with her usual delight and whimsy. This time was a gift to her family there.

Pam is survived by her elder daughter Tracy, and her grandsons Jason and Ben; her daughter Sian, son-in-law Ralph, and granddaughter Ella; her stepsons Peter and Richard, and their extensive and much-loved families. Pam was a force of nature. She saw beauty all around her and she brought beauty to so many. We will miss her joy and wonder, her laughter, and her eternal curiosity and love. We will miss her soft Welsh voice:

“It was all so good, everything.”
