William (Bill) Stanton PATERSON

William (Bill) Stanton PATERSON Was lovingly welcomed into the world on Good Friday, April 14, 1922 in Craigmyle, Alberta. On January 2nd 2011, Bill peacefully departed this world having been abundantly loved and cared for by so many, including the staff at Berwick on the Lake Retirement Residence and the Palliative Care personnel in Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.

Bill was known as an “Eternal Optimist.” He was larger-than-life, walked his talk, and was passionate about virtually everything – in particular environmental stewardship issues. None more than family feel the loss of Bill’s passing, and he will always be remembered with deep gratitude and love by his wife and life travelling partner of sixty-five years, Joan, son Doug, daughters Linda and Jeanie, their respective partners, Sue, Ross and Jim, grandsons, Adam (wife Heather) and Fraser, his sister Polly and her family and his brother John’s family.

A Celebration of Bill’s Life will take place on Saturday, February 5th 2011 at 2 pm at Telford’s Nanaimo Centre, 595 Townsite Road with a reception to follow in the Unitarian Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family requests donations be made in Bill’s name to the David Suzuki Foundation or the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation – Palliative Care Unit.
