The Ladysmith chapter is celebrating 87 years as businesses across the province mark Chamber of Commerce week.
This year’s theme is ‘Get Business Done’ which speaks to the “ambitious and goal-driven spirit of B.C.’s small businesses,” said Minister of Small Business Coralee Oakes.
Locally, Mayor Aaron Stone proclaimed Feb. 20-24 as Chamber of Commerce Week, recognizing the countless hours of volunteer work that goes into strengthening the business community.
The Ladysmith Chamber of Commerce was incorporated in 1930 and has 175 active members
In celebration, an open house is being held on Thursday at the office and visitor centre on Roberts Street.
Chili and a bun, as well as cake will be served between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
There will also be opportunities to check out the upcoming events calendar for 2017 and network with fellow members, the Chamber board and staff.
“We’ll have some information on marketing opportunities and different ways you can benefit from Chamber membership,” said Executive director Mark Drysdale.
According to BC Stats, B.C.’s small business sector grew 1,400 per cent above the national average last year and accounts for 35 per cent of the GDP.
