For an afternoon of fun and learning, look no further than Ladysmith library’s Literacy Day events.

“It’s to celebrate reading and learning,” explained library manager, Steven Warren.

The My Story, Your Story event is a free afternoon of storytelling, crafts and fun.

“We have storytellers from the First Nation band, an author reading from his children’s book, a face painter and a crafts table,” Warren said.

He said the event helps bring families together.

“It’s to share stories in the community and have fun,” he said, mentioning the event is geared towards children 5-12.

“But, of course, everyone is welcome to come.”

The event is at the Ladysmith library on First Avenue from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29.

The event is also being held in the Gabriola and Wellington libraries on Saturday and in Nanaimo’s Harbourfront library and Serious Coffee on Commercial Street in Nanaimo on Sunday.
