Duncan Lions make holidays brighter for Duncan Youth

“This is an incredibly difficult time of year for many families"

Clients at Cowichan Valley Youth Services are benefiting from a heartwarming donation from the Duncan Lions Club this holiday season.

Duncan Lions president Rick Manifold, alongside other club members, presented the CVYS team with a cheque for $2,500 — funds they will use to purchase gift cards to distribute to local youth and caregivers in the coming weeks.

“This is an incredibly difficult time of year for many families, financially, emotionally, and relationally,” said CVYS executive director, Zoe Lauckner. “Every caregiver wants to provide gifts for their children, and to do that while making other ends meet can be extremely stressful. We are so thankful to the Duncan Lions Club for their support.”

Reflecting on their ongoing partnership with CVYS, Manifold said, “We have been supporting this holiday gift card initiative for close to 10 years now and are delighted to be able to make the holidays a bit brighter for the youth and parents that CVYS serves.”

In addition to the $2,500 cheque in support of gift card purchasing, the Duncan Lions made a second contribution of $1,000 to support CVYS’ ongoing operational expenses.

“It is a gift to partner with the Duncan Lions Club to help reduce some of the pressure on local families this holiday season," Lauckner said. "And we were taken by surprise and absolutely thrilled to have a second donation specifically for our operating needs. These gifts go to show how thoughtful and generous Lions’ members are, and how deeply committed they are to supporting the local community.”
