The Ladysmith Legion will commemorate Remembrance Day this year with a program that is open to all on Nov. 11.
The annual Remembrance Day Parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Legion Hall, 621 1st Ave, and carry on to the Rotary Memorial Peace Garden and Cenotaph which is located at the intersection of Esplanade Avenue and Warren Street in Ladysmith.
An opening service will commence at 10:45 a.m. followed by two minutes of silence and a Remembrance Day program. This program will include a wreath-laying. Those wishing to purchase a wreath to lay (or for display elsewhere) can do so by calling Legion branch #171 in Ladysmith at 250-245-2273. Various sized wreaths are available.
The Legion asks supporters to wear a poppy as a visual pledge to honour Canada's veterans and to remember those who have lost their lives in service to their country.
The legion's poppy drive started on Oct. 25 and will continue through Nov. 9.
