Ladysmith welcomes Easter Bunny

Ladysmith Lions Club annual Easter Egg Hunt

It was all high fives and big smiles when the Easter Bunny arrived at Transfer Beach on Saturday, April 19 for the Ladysmith Lions Club annual Easter Egg Hunt.

The Lions were joined by the Ladysmith Air Cadets Parallel Squadron #257 who helped with set up, chocolate distribution and security. The Easter Bunny arrived in style via fire truck thanks to Ladysmith Fire/Rescue. Ladysmith Arts was on hand with their free photo booth offering pictures with the Easter Bunny.

Allen McDermid is the Ladysmith Lions Club's secretary and has been helping coordinate the annual event for five years now.

"The Ladysmith Lions is the longest serving Lions group on the island. We'll be celebrating 85 years next year," McDermid said.

He acknowledged the support of all the groups involved, especially Save-On-Foods who donated the chocolate eggs, all 132 pounds of which was gone within 10 minutes.

Around 200 participants scrambled in the spring sun to find the hidden chocolate eggs at the always-popular annual event.
