The 25 metre pool and the therapy teach pool at Frank Jameson Community Centre will be re-opened on November 2.
Ladysmith’s department of Parks, Recreation and Culture, (PRC), has opted for a phased-in approach for re-opening the facility to the public.
At this time, the hot tub and sauna will remain closed. Length swimming is allowed for a maximum of 12 people per session. Local swim clubs can rent the facility for 7.5 hours per week for swim practice.
PRC hopes to offer swimming lessons in the future based on public health guidelines.
The decision to reopen the pool was made in large part because community members expressed a strong desire to return to swimming activities. As well, many regular pool users cannot access land-based activities, and have been unable to access recreation since the pool closure.
All details concerning the reopening of the aquatic centre at FJCC will be in the 2020 Fall Aquatic Guide, which will be published online on Friday, October 16.
