Chemainus isn’t wasting any time marking the change in the seasons in fine style.
Summer officially arrives Friday and that leads right into the Chemainus Rotary Club’s Chemainus Summer Fest celebrations Saturday.
“Everybody come out and have a good time – lots going on,” said Shannon Bellamy, event co-chair along with Anita Voisin.
“We’ve been hard at work planning and all set up.”
It all gets going with the world famous Rotary pancake breakfast at 8 a.m. You can take a short rest from food before indulging in the world famous Rotary barbecue lunch of hamburgers and hot dogs starting at 11 a.m.
Children’s activities are ongoing from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. while the parade begins from the corner of Victoria Street near the Western Forest Products mill entrance and Willow Street at 11 a.m.
The parade route follows Willow down to Oak Street and then onto Esplanade Street before ending at Kin Park.
Old MacDonald’s Farm is the theme for the parade. Entries for the parade will still be accepted until Wednesday.
There’s also plenty of entertaining music going on all day to get a sizzling summer started in Chemainus.
