A Victoria early childhood education teacher has been recognized on a national level.

Anna Correia, teacher at Our Children's Centre Society of Greater Victoria (OCCS), is one of 69 educators across the country to receive the Certificate of Achievement, the Prime Minister's Award for her contributions to educations.

Since starting at OCCS for her practicum, she has been there for 16 years and is now their lead educator.

"Anna is an inspiration, not only to me but to many others," said OCCS manager Joy Anselmo. "I feel beyond lucky to have the pleasure of getting to be at work with her each day in a field where at times it can be hard, stressful and even exhausting. Anna is thriving in her lead role at OCCS."

Correia's biography can be found on the Government of Canada website.
