Irish eyes will be smiling over Ladysmith next week as the Island Celtic Festival comes to town.

Scheduled for April 29 to May 1, it is considered a must-attend for Celtic music lovers.

Organizer Bryan Henderson said the pieces are falling into place as he adds the finishing touches to the event.

The festival will begin with a session on Friday night at the Waterfront Gallery beginning around 6 p.m.

Musicians will take turns performing while the other jump in. The session is expected to go late into the evening. There will also be an opportunity to sign up for music workshops on the following Saturday.

This will be followed by workshops all day Saturday and capped off with a concert, gathering at Aggie Hall on April 30. Catering will be done by Stu”ate Lelum students.

Henderson said he is hoping around 50 musicians will come to the Friday session and is also encouraging local music lovers to come by and check things out.

He is also expecting around 200 for the Saturday concert which starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15.
