Grant pushed Ladysmith park forward

A gaming grant worth $45,000 leaves the Kinsmen with room to play. The substantial boost means the service club is merely chump change away from the amount needed to purchase Phase 2 of their reconstructed Brown Drive Park.It also helps put them ahead of schedule, said member Duck Paterson.“We can order Phase 2,” said Paterson. “Then it’s just the $3,600 for the ground cover.”Paterson predicts the new section of park, designed for younger kids, will be in the ground and ready for action this summer. The Kinsmen do have a couple of fundraisers coming up, including an Eggs Benefit on Sunday, June 19 from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Oceanview Community Church. People can also donate their empties to the park at the bottle depot or call Paterson, 250-245-2263, to make a donation.
