Saltair’s fabulous Porter Brothers - Jack, Marshall and Dean - performed Saturday during the fifth anniversary of the 49th Parallel Grocery store in Chemainus Village Square.
They have some great original songs, but also perform the classics so well - like Johnny Cash’s iconic Folsom Prison Blues.
When it started to drizzle a little toward the end of the performance, Island Savings Credit Union moved over one of its tents to cover the band from its nearby set-up.
That prompted lead singer Jack Porter to quip, “maybe I should change banks.”
The Porter Brothers just got back into performing again after a month off. Dean, the band’s bass player, broke his thumb and finger on his left hand and his elbow on his right arm after a dirt bike accident on Sept. 23.
Dean healed amazingly fast thanks to the great work of orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Popovic, Genoa Laser Clinic and physiotherapist Wendy Bowen as well as a bone-building diet.
With Dean’s cast off, the boys were eager to get back in front of an audience and didn’t look or sound like they’d missed a beat during the 49th Parallel anniversary gig.
