Gabriel Iglesias brings his comedy act to Victoria on Saturday

Gabriel Iglesias may not be as fluffy as he used to be.

But funny? That still comes in extra large.

Iglesias, the California comedian who shot to fame courtesy of a stand-up act captured in films like I'm Not Fat I'm Fluffy and Hot and Fluffy, brings that act to the Victoria stage Saturday as part of the #FluffyBreaksEven tour.

"Fluffy," who built a career making fun of his weight, lost about 100 pounds recently in a bid to deal with Type 2 diabetes, a process he has incorporated into his act.

"His high-octane show is a sure-fire hit: a mixture of storytelling, parodies, characters and sound effects that bring all his personal experiences to life. Gabriel's unique and animated comedy style has made him popular among fans of all ages," his website states.

Ben Sachs of the Chicago Reader calls him a compulsive crowd-pleaser who manages to talk about self-destructive behaviour, personal pain and touchy subjects in a warm, inclusive way.

"He's a crowd-pleaser reminiscent of Robin Williams, inserting funny sounds and vocal impersonations into nearly every line and alternating raunchy material with moments of unabashed sentimentality," Sachs writes in a review of the recent film The Fluffy Movie.

Iglesias recently became one of the few comedians to headline and sellout Madison Square Garden in New York, The Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, and The Honda Center in Anaheim.

His Comedy Central broadcast Gabriel Iglesias: Aloha Fluffy, an unprecedented two-night comedy special, was watched by more than 15 million viewers. The special was a follow-up to his previous DVDs, Hot & Fluffy and I'm Not Fat...I'm Fluffy, which have sold a combined total of more than two million copies.

The #FluffyBreaksEven tour comes to Victoria's Save In Foods Memorial Centre in Victoria on Nov. 5
