Fall in love with music, and classic cinema with A Night At The Movies featuring tenor extraordinaire Ken Lavigne. This enticing event will be coming to three different Vancouver Island venues over Valentine's weekend including the Duncan Christian Reformed Church on Feb. 15 at 7:30 p.m.
"It’s an absolute thrill to bring A Night At The Movies to these venues," said Lavigne. "Sharing these timeless movie moments and the music that makes them unforgettable is such a joy, and if people leave feeling like I’ve done those songs justice, then I’ll happily embrace the moniker even if just for a weekend."
Lavigne who is a Vancouver Islander through and through says he has spent the past 20 years as a a proud Chemainiac and that these performances truly feel feel like they are in his backyard.
"Just with fewer burgers and way more ballads," jokes Lavigne. "I’ve worked with VanCity Harmony a few times recently, but this collaboration is on a whole new scale. Every time I sing with these incredible voices, I get chills, I’m blown away by their richness and blend—it’s an experience that never gets old."
Lavigne, who was a founding member of The Canadian Tenors, will be reuniting with fellow TCT alumnus Dr. Philip Grant the executive director of VanCity Harmony as they collaborate for three performances of lights, camera, and harmony. They will also be taking their show on the road to Sidney's Mary Winspear Centre on Feb. 14 and Parksville's Knox United Church on Feb. 16.
"I’m genuinely thrilled to reunite with Dr. Philip Grant," said Lavigne. "Our friendship began at the founding of the Canadian tenors and it is going strong after 21 years. For 10 incredible years, on tour, Phil and I shared unforgettable moments as members of The Canadian Tenors and Romanza — filled with laughs, mischief and music. This upcoming concert is a rare opportunity to rekindle those cherished memories."
“Singing with Ken taught me the power of harmony, connection, and creating something truly special every night," said Grant. "We are thrilled to bring that same energy to this special concert. People who have seen us before know they’ll get more than a music performance — they’ll get an experience.”
