The City of Duncan will be replacing all of its EV charger locations with new FLO units this summer to improve reliability for users.
FLO chargers offer a faster charging experience for electric vehicles than Level 1 chargers.
The city said that, during the replacement period, users may find a charging station unavailable in Duncan.
“We appreciate your patience as we implement this new infrastructure and encourage you to try one of the other charging units,” the city said.
Duncan currently has a total of 12 electric vehicle charging ports across three locations throughout the city.
They are 341 Trans-Canada Hwy. which has two ports, 330 Duncan St. which has eight ports, and and the free-parking lot at the 200 block of Canada Avenue, which has two ports.
Charging rates are $2 per hour, which covers the cost of electricity and maintenance of the charging stations.
The use of the city’s EV charging stations was free until 2022 when the municipality started charging fees in an effort to help pay for increasing hydro bills, while also supplying a contingency for unexpected repairs and future equipment replacement.
