An allegedly impaired driver caused a highway crash near Ladysmith earlier this week.

Ladysmith RCMP were called to the Trans-Canada Highway at Edgelow Road, where a car and a pickup had been involved in a crash in the highway’s southbound lanes at about 7 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 11.

The female driver of the car was transported to hospital with minor injuries, while the male driver of the pickup showed signs of impairment and was detained and transported to the Ladysmith RCMP detachment to provide breath samples.

Ladysmith RCMP S/Sgt. Tim Desaulniers said the driver of the pickup was subsequently issued a 90-day driving prohibition, and was released on a promise to appear in court to face impaired driving charges.
