The Town of Ladysmith has reopened the Frank Jameson Community Centre (FJCC) fitness centre to pre-registerd visits.

As of Jan. 20, members of the public can schedule 75-minute appointments. This is intended to limit the spread of COVID-19 by allowing for improved physical distancing and capacity limits, according to the town.

“Between appointments, staff are completing a thorough cleaning of fitness machines, equipment and other common touch surfaces,” reads a news release from the town.

Patrons can register through www.RecCowichan.ca or by calling the FJCC reception desk at 250-245-6424.

The fitness centre is open Monday to Friday, 6 am — 8:45 pm, Saturday, 8:15 a.m. — 3:30 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m. — 3:45 p.m.

Fitness classes are scheduled to start on Jan. 24 and most fitness programs and classes will be held in the gymnasium. Staff are currently working on re-scheduling some class times to accommodate the changes and to ensure most classes are able to be offered. Visit the town’s parks and recreation page on its website for dates, schedules and information.

The latest update to the provincial health order is set to expire on Feb. 16 and the town will provide updates to operations in accordance with provincial orders.
