Wednesday, April 2 and Thursday, April 3 Ladysmith RCMP and North Oyster Fire/Rescue personnel were kept busy with activity on and off the highway.
On Wednesday North Oyster Fire/Rescue responded to a call of a fire in a truck and camper that had been parked on Simpson Road, just off Cedar Road, in North Oyster.
“On April 2 the Ladysmith RCMP received a report of a small fire at a trailer and officers responded," RCMP said. "Some small pieces of paper were set on fire, but extinguished immediately and there was no danger of the camper burning.”
"The occupant of the trailer was arrested on unrelated arrest warrants.”
The next day day the RCMP were called to the North Oyster area, again, this time in response to a vehicular incident at the intersection of Brenton Page Road and the Island Highway. A yellow one ton pickup and small white sedan sparked a fire.
The collision happened when the truck was turning left onto Brenton Page Road and struck the small sedan travelling north, said RCMP.
The truck became engulfed in flames, but the driver was unharmed.
“A passenger in the sedan suffered minor injuries and driver was unhurt," RCMP said.
Members of the North Oyster Fire/Rescue department were called to the scene and the Ladysmith department was also called out.
Traffic violation tickets were issued to the driver of pickup.
