Pedestrian struck by vehicle on Trans-Canada Highway in Duncan

A 35-year-old Duncan woman was rushed to hospital Tuesday night after being struck by a vehicle on the Trans-Canada Highway.

A 35-year-old Duncan woman was rushed to hospital Tuesday night after being struck by a vehicle on the Trans-Canada Highway.

The incident occured in the southbound lane in front of the Burger King at 6 p.m.

RCMP said the stretch of the highway is a 50 km/hr zone and the 63-year-old Port Alberni driver was unable to stop before hitting the pedestrian.

The motorist remained on scene as did numerous witnesses.

“The woman is recovering in a Victoria area hospital from significant injuries,” said Cpl. Krista Hobday.

Police are asking any witnesses to contact the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP at 250-748-5522 if they haven’t already given their statement to police.
