Convoy heading to Victoria to rally against COVID-19 mandates

A large convoy of protester passed through Ladysmith on its way to Victoria to rally against COVID-19 mandates on Jan. 29.

Protest sign included “18-wheels to flatten the curve,” “mandate freedom” and “take back your freedom.”

Vehicles waited at the North Davis and Chemainus Roads to join as the procession passed through town. It was met with a crowd of supporters waving Canadian flags, cheering and honking.

A convoy to Ottawa was originally sparked by truckers upset at a federal mandate for truckers to be vaccinated to cross the US/Canada border.
