Raymon Farmere, a computer technician, business administrator and ESL Instructor, has tossed his hat in the ring to be North Cowichan councillor in the upcoming byelection.
Farmere is originally from Comox but has lived in a number of Vancouver Island communities before settling in Cowichan Bay.
He said he has worked on the Vancouver Island University CUPE 1858 Union as a member of the executive, passing local union bylaws and resolutions.
“This role was very similar to that of a councillor and I have also been the campus director of a private college for over two years,” Farmere said.
He said, if elected, he would continue working with the official community plan and help the community achieve the objectives of the OCP, look at ways to bring more affordable housing options to North Cowichan, as well as bringing more food banks and drug-rehabilitation programs to North Cowichan.
“I would also bring more walk-in and online remote clinics to North Cowichan and help strategize to increase medical services, look into funding for sidewalk repairs to make the sidewalks more disability friendly for wheelchairs and walkers, help find funding for appropriate repairs to improve overall road conditions, and help come up with strategies to bring more businesses to North Cowichan to create more jobs.”
Farmere recently ran in the Ladysmith mayoral byelection.
