Cowichan 49ers dominate all-star roster

Vancouver Island looks to defend all-star title

Cowichan 49ers coach Kevin James and player-coach Neall Rowlings will lead the Vancouver Island 2024-25 masters all-star roster against the Fraser Valley all-stars on Jan. 11.

Of 19 players on the Island team, 10 are from the 49ers. The group looks to defend their all-star title at the game, held in Langley this year.

Representing the 49ers are Jordan Korven, Blair Sturrock and Wesley Barrett — all three are new to the team this year — as well as returning players Gjoa Carr, Steven Scott, Stuart Barker, Matt Arnett, Mike Carroll, and keeper Darian Achurch.

Four players from Vic West, three from Nanaimo, and one each from Prospect Lake and Bays United, make up the rest of the roster.

The 49ers sit first over all in the Vancouver Island Soccer League's Master 'A' men's rankings, with 10 wins and one draw through 11 games.

Cowichan resumes play on the road against Vic West FC on Jan. 18.
