Cowichan Capitals see both sides of 7-3 games

Kole Keen scored one of Cowichan's seven goals against the Victoria Grizzlies at the Cowichan Arena this past weekend.

The Cowichan Valley Capitals came out on different ends of two 7-3 games this past weekend at the Cowichan Arena, falling to the Langley Rivermen 7-3 on Friday, Feb. 7 and then beating the Victoria Grizzlies 7-3 the next night.

A pair of goals from Adam Lang and one from Trace Frieden were the extent of Cowichan's offensive effort on Friday night, but the team rallied the following night with goals from six different skaters.

Luca Primerano scored a pair to lead the team while Hayden Russell, Jack McAra, Jake Gutwirthm, Kole Keen, and Moritz Kukuk also scored. 

Dylan Krick had the victory between the pipes stopping 39 of 42 shots faced.

The Caps welcome the Prince George Spruce Kings to the Cowichan Arena on Friday, Feb. 14 at 7 p.m. before visiting the Rivermen in Langley on Feb. 16 for a 2:30 p.m. matinee.

On Feb. 17 the team plays the Chiefs in Chillwack before returning to their home ice for a Feb. 21 tilt against Victoria.

Ice Chips:

The Capitals have signed Swedish forward Carl Jacobson for the remainder of the 2024-2025 campaign. This season 40 games in the NAHL with the Amarillo Wranglers he had four goals and 15 assists for 19 points. 

The Caps have also sent forward Ben Portner to the Langley Rivermen in a three-way trade that had goalie Erick Roest joining Cowichan from the Sherwood Park Crusaders.

And finally forward Carter Lundie has signed with the team. In 27 games in the NAHL with the St. Cloud Norsemen, Lundie had 10 goals and 14 assists for 24 points.
