After ending 2024 with a 2-1 victory over CFC Calypso on goals from Kelsey Thorne and Poppy White, the Div. 3 Cowichan Storm didn't show any signs of wear after their winter break. White in particular continued on scoring, with a hat-trick against JDF FC on Jan. 12.
Grace Fusick and Maya Johnston also scored to add to a 5-0 road shutout.
The Storm will look to continue their winning ways at the Sherman Road turf on Saturday, Jan. 18 when the Saanich Fusion visit for an 8 p.m. kickoff.
In other women's soccer news, Sarah Jones scored in the 49th minute for the Cowichan Cougars O30 squad in a 3-1 loss to Vic West FC on Jan. 12 at UVic.
The Cougars welcome Nanaimo United FC to the Sherman Road turf on Sunday, Jan. 19 for a 2 p.m. game.
The Cowichan Valley Soccer Association's men's teams begin the second half of their seasons the same weekend with Cowichan Axis resuming on Jan. 18 when they'll face Powell River on the road.
The Masters Steelheads visit VW Huddy FC on Jan. 19 and the 49ers suit up against Vic West FC on Jan. 18 in Victoria. Div. 3 Cowichan Oak plays host to Vic West on Jan. 18 at 4 p.m. and Div. 5 Cowichan FC welcomes Victoria FC to the Sherman Road turf on Jan. 18 at 6 p.m.
