Wounded Warriors run stops in Ladysmith

Get ready to cheer on the Wounded Warrior Run, a seven person relay team running from Port Hardy to Victoria to raise funds and awareness for veterans, police and other first responders affected by PTSD.

On Saturday the team will be running south on the Trans-Canada Highway and will stop at the Ladysmith Legion for coffee with Mayor Aaron Stone at 10:45 a.m.

Celebrate Heritage Week in Ladysmith

Take a walk around Ladysmith and you’ll quickly see that there are so many examples of the town’s past that have stood the test of time.

All this week the municipality is marking Heritage Week, with open houses planned for this weekend where individuals and families can see impressive restoration efforts, hear stories about local history and be on hand for the unveiling of the Salish Wind at Transfer Beach.

Ladysmith Rotary Club’s Lanterns of Hope for Polio fundraiser

Rotary Club of Ladysmith has announced this year’s date for the 4th annual Lanterns of Hope for Polio fundraiser at Transfer Beach.

The family-friendly event will take place on Saturday at Transfer Beach from 5-7 p.m.

Ladysmith Kinsmen host free swim

For the third year in a row the members of the Ladysmith Kinsmen Club will be hosting a free swim for everyone at the Frank Jameson Community Centre on Saturday.

The swim will be from 3-6 p.m. and is free and open to all ages.

The event is being held to mark National Day of KINdness, a program involving all Kin Clubs in Canada that encourages acts of kindness in the community.

Ladysmith members believe the free swim is an opportunity for families to get together and enjoy physical activity.

Hungry after splashing around in the water? Ladysmith Kinsmen will also be barbecuing free hot dogs and serving fruit drinks.

Coldest Night of the Year in support the LRCA

The 2nd annual local Coldest Night of the Year fundraising walk for the Ladysmith Resources Centre takes place on Saturday and over 15 teams have already registered, including more than 100 individuals.

The event starts from Aggie Hall and route options include a 2 km, 5 km or 10 km walk (two laps of the 5 km course).
