The North Oyster Volunteer Fire Fepartment says a brush fire off the Trans-Canada Highway north of Ladysmith Monday was ‘100 per cent human-caused.
According to NOVFD captain Kris Hill, the blaze — which erupted along Takala Road, across the highway from Brenton Page Road around 4 p.m. Monday afternoon — was quickly brought under control by the department, with the assistance of Ladysmith Fire Rescue.
Southbound traffic on the Trans Canada Highway was reduced to one lane.
