Car burns up after Nanaimo Parkway crash

Car and pickup collided Monday, Feb. 7, near south Jingle Pot Road intersection

Two vehicles crashed on the Nanaimo Parkway and one of them caught fire this afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to a collision in the parkway’s northbound lanes near the south Jingle Pot Road intersection Monday, Feb. 7, at about 4:15 p.m.

A car and a pickup truck were involved in the incident which caused the car to catch fire, and firefighters at the scene said the vehicle was fully ablaze when they arrived there. No one was injured.

Northbound traffic was backed up to Fifth Street as crews worked to clear the scene.

The Nanaimo Parkway, Jingle Pot Road and Third Street was tied as Nanaimo’s eighth-worst intersection in 2020 with 29 crashes, according to ICBC statistics.
