Celebrating the spirit of Ladysmith

Eight individuals, groups and businesses were honoured during the Spirit of Ladysmith Community Awards Saturday night.

The Spirit of Ladysmith Community Awards celebrated individuals and organizations that have made an impact in the community Saturday night.

Eight awards were presented during the awards ceremony sponsored by the Ladysmith Chamber of Commerce and Ladysmith and District Credit Union, which was held at Aggie Hall.

Nita Grant was named Volunteer of the Year for 2011, while Katrina Stirling was recognized as Youth of the Year.

Colleen Gaudreault of Pharmasave Ladysmith was honoured as Service Employee of the Year in a business with 11 or more employees, while Colleen Andreychuk-Burke of Grant Jewellers won the Service Employee of the Year award for a business with one to 10 employees.

The 2011 Entrepreneur of the Year award went to Steve Wilkinson.

GNB Builders Inc. was recognized as Small Business of the Year, while Pharmasave Ladysmith won the Large Business of the Year award.

The Kinsmen Club of Ladsymith was named Not-For-Profit of the Year.
