Outbreaks on the fourth and fifth floors at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital have been declared over.

Island Health issued an information bulletin Tuesday, Feb. 22, advising that the five outbreaks on Vancouver have been declared over, including the two at NRGH and another at Berwick on the Lake long-term care home.

The health authority says 26 positive COVID-19 cases were related to the Nanaimo hospital’s fourth-floor outbreak, and another 18 cases were attributed to the fifth-floor outbreak. Berwick ended up with 11 residents and one staff member testing positive for COVID during the outbreak there.

“Staff at the sites are to be commended for continuing to deliver high-quality, compassionate care while diligently following outbreak protocols,” noted the information bulletin.
