One suspected drunken assault last month resulted in no charges being laid.
But another led to a guilty plea from a Ladysmith man.
Const. Tim Wang of the Ladysmith RCMP reported that at 2:56 a.m. on March 1, the Ladysmith RCMP were notified by a male that his family members were threatening him using a baseball bat at the 12700 block of the Trans-Canada Highway. He fled the scene.
When police arrived they determined alcohol was involved.
The victim did not wish to pursue charges and decided to have matter dealt with internally.
One week later, at 3:10 a.m. a report of a domestic assault occurred in the 300 block of 4th Avenue Extension.
A female victim was met by police and suffered minor injuries. A 29-year-old male resident of Ladysmith was arrested and charged with assault.
Alcohol was involved. The accused was later released on a promise to appear with conditions.
Subsequently, the accused pleaded guilty and is on probation. His name was not released.
