The Town of Ladysmith has lifted a Boil Water Advisory for Ladysmith, Stz’uminus First Nation, and the Diamond Improvement District.

The advisory was lifted after two separate test results showed the areas water supply meets or exceeds provincial standards.

“Effective immediately, residents and businesses in the Town of Ladysmith, the Diamond Improvement District and Stz’uminus First Nation can now drink and cook with tap water,” a Town press release stated.

Before consuming the water, residents are advised to run cold-water faucets and drinking fountains for one minute, drain and flush all ice-making machines, run water softeners through a regeneration cycle, drain and refill hot water tanks set below 45 C, and change any pre-treatment filters.

The release went on to thank residents for their patience during the advisory.

“We understand this has been a challenging past few days, particularly for the more vulnerable segments of our population,” it stated.
