Ladysmith city council meeting cancelled due to lack of quorum

The Town of Ladysmith has cancelled its city council meeting for tonight due to lack of quorum and rescheduled it for next Tuesday.

“In Ladysmith, quorum (the number of members needed to be present in order to hold a Council meeting) is four of the seven council members,” the town stated in a media release.

“The Town’s Council Procedure Bylaw states that, if there is no quorum 15 minutes after a meeting is supposed to start, the meeting shall be cancelled.”

Two of the councillors are ill while at least two others are not in town.

More details will be provided on the Feb. 13 meeting when they become available, stated the town.
