A Ladysmith man has been charged with possessing child pornography.

A Ladysmith man is facing child pornography charges.

Bruce Alexander Rogers, 65, was arrested Dec. 15, 2010, after police seized an estimated one million sexually explicit images that included pornographic pictures of children.

Police confiscated 10 computers, digital cameras, web cameras, CDs, DVDs, at least 29 external hard drives and 25 other storage devices during three police searches conducted at Rogers' business in Cedar, his car and his home in Ladysmith.

At the time, the amount of material seized was unprecedented in the Nanaimo region.

Const. Gary O'Brien, Nanaimo RCMP spokesman, said Rogers was formally charged with one count of possession of child pornography Dec. 15, 2011.

"The investigation is continuing and further charges are expected," O'Brien said.

Rogers makes his next appearance in Nanaimo provincial court Jan. 24.
