The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU) is investigating a homicide that occurred in the 1100-block of Quadra Street.

On Wednesday, Feb. 12 around 5:30 p.m., patrol officers were called to a multi-unit residence on Quadra Street where they found a woman suffering from a stab wound. Police and BCEHS paramedics provided emergency medical aid but she later died from her injuries.

Detectives with the Victoria Police Department’s Major Crime Unit were called to the scene and continued the investigation. The incident is being treated as a homicide and VIIMCU has assumed conduct of the investigation.

One man was arrested and remains in custody and police say they believe it was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing risk to the public.
