Nanaimo RCMP investigating after woman witnesses lewd act

Man seen masturbating in his car in Harewood area Tuesday

Nanaimo police are investigating after a report this week of a man masturbating in a car in the Harewood area.

According to Const. Gary O’Brien, Nanaimo RCMP spokesman, the incident occurred on Aug. 21 at around 8:20 a.m. at the corner of Hamilton Avenue and Fifth Street – a woman witnessed the incident.

The suspect is described as being Caucasian, between 25-35 years old, with long, brown hair.

“A car pulls up beside [the witness], so the passenger side is next to her, she’s obviously above the car, she looks in, the guy’s got no pants on at all and he’s masturbating … his hair fell forward and she could only see his profile, couldn’t get much of a pic,” said O’Brien.

O’Brien said he was wearing a blue T-shirt, driving a newer model four-door, grey car, which turned left onto Fifth Street, heading in the direction of the 7-Eleven.

There were no other reports and the woman was unable to get a licence plate or make and model of the vehicle, O’Brien said.

If anyone has any information on this incident, they can call Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345.
