Keith Turner, believed to have been the oldest person on Vancouver Island, passed away Thursday morning just two weeks after celebrating his 108th birthday.
A resident of La Rosa Gardens in Ladysmith, Turner was born in Manitoba in 1907. He moved to Saskatchewan at the age of five and then to B.C. in 1929 to work in Anyox, north of Prince Rupert.
Feisty right up to the end, when asked at his 107th birthday celebration how he approaches each and every day, he said, “It depends what happens the night before.” He never professed to have a ‘secret’ for his longevity.
Information about memorial and funeral arrangements is not yet available.
