Back in July, the ‘Silver Bullet’, Saltair Marine Service’s barge assist and oil spill response vessel was stolen. With the help of the RCMP and local community groups, the Silver Bullet has been found.

The vessel was found near Oak Bay by the RCMP’s organized crime unit. The thief made efforts to disguise the vessel by removing the centre console, painting the exterior, and putting a truck canopy on the vessel.

Starla Parkin, office manager at Saltair Marine said the vessel will have to be repaired, and that Saltair Marine will press charges. Despite the damage, Parkin said she’s extremely happy the Silver Bullet has been found.

“The community supported us quite well. Lots of the local companies were willing to put up posters, spread the word, and keep eyes out. All our costal members throughout the islands… supported us. They hosted poster boards on all the different islands to keep eyes out and keep the information current,” Parkin said.

Parkin expressed thanks to the RCMP and the community for their all hands on deck approach to finding the Silver Bullet.
