Ladysmith is one step closer to having a framework for secondary suites after council awarded a contract to engage the public.
Staff were recommending the firm CitySpaces Consulting Ltd. whose proposal calls for: Community education, three neighbourhood forums (topic-based — sustainable, affordable housing, secondary suite forms), telephone survey (200), one community session and a webpage.
The budget proposal was $39,515, which was within the $40,000 allocated by council.
When asked about the time line, council was informed work would begin in February with public consultation planned for March to May and the process will conclude in June.
