The Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock riders were presented with an cheque this week for more than $7,000 at the Tim Hortons in Ladysmith.
On Thursday, June 8, Dave Milne, the owner of five Tim Hortons restaurants, including the Ladysmith and North Oyster establishments, presented the Canadian Cancer Society with a $7,385 cheque for the Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock bike ride, all raised from the Smile Cookie Campaign fundraiser, held in May.

“Ladysmith is a small town with big pockets and big hearts,” Milne said. “Every year our customers support the program, which funds go to support the Tour de Rock, and we couldn’t do it without our staff and with our customers.”
Milne said Tim Hortons allows each franchisee to choose which charity will get the cookie donation and he has donated the funds to the cancer society for over a decade.
This year’s Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock fund-raising goal is $1 million for childhood cancer research and support services at the Canadian Cancer Society before the end of the bike ride in early October.
