Victoria police say they arrested a woman who trespassed onto a boat in Victoria's Inner Harbour before jumping into the ocean.

At around 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 10, the Victoria Police Department (VicPD) received a call that a woman had trespassed onto a boat in the 1200-block of Wharf Street, and when officers arrived and attempted to speak with her, she barricaded herself in the boat.

"Trained crisis negotiators with our emergency response team attempted to communicate with the individual to facilitate a peaceful surrender," noted a statement from VicPD.

At around 2 p.m., police say she jumped in the water and was rescued by officer and members of the Marine Search and Rescue.

She was arrested for mischief and later released with a future court date.
