Alfred Robert GISBORNE

After a very brief fight with cancer, Alfred passed away peacefully in Ladysmith and District General Hospital attended by his family. He is survived by his loving wife and companion, Lil Gisborne and a large family including: Gregory Gisborne and family of Barrie, Ontario, Kenneth Gisborne and family from Surrey, Terri Bremner and family from Penticton, Douglas Crow and family of Penticton, Robert Crow of Ladysmith and Lynn Scott and family of Ladysmith. Proudly, there are also 17 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Born in Victoria, highlights of Al’s life include service in the Merchant Marines and Royal Canadian Air Force, deep sea tugboat service as 1st mate on numerous global tours, semi-professional boxing, and years of dedicated work in the construction industries. A funeral service will be held at 11 am, Wednesday, March 27th at Telford’s Ladysmith Chemainus Mortuary Services at 112 French Street, Ladysmith. This will be followed by a graveside service at Ladysmith Cemetery and a memorial gathering at the residence of Bert Gisborne.
